Our Story
The Clutcher Therapeutic Pillow® was inspired by a personal challenge from one of its inventors. Bruce was recovering from sports injuries and surgeries and needed something to support his neck and shoulders. He discovered relief by using a regular pillow to support the "gap" that side sleepers often struggle with. As a bonus, it was relaxing him and helping him sleep. It gave him so much relief that he became addicted to having to hug a pillow while he slept.
Meanwhile, the other inventor, Alice, who found comfort hugging a stuffed animal, agreed to try the pillow instead. It was amazing, and she experienced a similar sense of support and relief. She, too, became addicted to using a pillow to fill the “gap”.
The problem was, while a regular pillow provided some relief, there was a way to do it much better. You see, a regular head pillow is not properly shaped, filled, or constructed the best way for this purpose. They’re head pillows, not body pillows.
One night, Alice had a vivid dream about a uniquely designed pillow that would solve the challenge side sleepers have and immediately sketched the concept. Shaped like our bodies to fit and provide the support and relief in the right spots on the body.
Together, they refined the idea through several iterations, resulting in The Clutcher, a revolutionary pillow designed to provide unmatched support and comfort for side sleepers. With The Clutcher, you can wake up pain-free, energized, and ready to take on the day.
The Problem? Regular PilloWs aren't built for this
Standard pillows are made for your head, not your body. They are flat, floppy, and not designed to support the unique posture of side sleepers. That frustrating gap between your arms and shoulder, and chest? Most pillows just can't help.
Alice had a vivid dream - literally. In it, she imagined a pillow designed to fit the body. A shape that wrapped around you like a gentle hug. A design that supported all the right places, not just one. She woke up at 1:00 AM to sketch the first concept.
From Idea to Impact: cREATING the clutcher
That Sketch became a prototype. That prototype became dozens of adjustments. Bruce and Alice tested different fills, Shapes, weights, and fabrics - all to create a pillow that side sleepers wouldn't want to sleep without.
They knew they had something when they stopped waking up restless. when friends asked if they could try it. When every night included the same thought: "I need my Clutcher." Manufacturers echoed this enthusiasm, too, giving overwhelmingly positive feedback on how exceptional and unique the design is. That’s when they knew it was time to share it with the world.
